FAQ

Please reach us at peter@cherrillphoto.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I specialise in natural light canine and equine portrait photography, I also photograph people and families in natural settings.

I photograph on location in and around Oxfordshire, and sometimes further by arrangement.

A typical shoot usually takes around an hour, although we have no time restriction so we may take longer as necessary. This all depends on the number of animals, how they behave, the weather and various other factors.

It is best if you allow a morning or afternoon of your time so you can relax and enjoy the experience without feeling you need to rush off somewhere.

I only take on one shoot per day so you have my total attention on making your shoot special for you and enjoyable.

Absolutely!

We make things as easy as possible for you by coming to your location at a time that suits you, there is no additional charge for weekend or evening shoots.

During the summer months we offer evening shoots to take advantage of the beautiful golden light.

When you book your photo experience with me I will arrange a scheduled consultation call with you prior to the shoot. This is where we discuss what you'd like to get from the experience including the type of pictures you are looking for, be it action, posed, candid or a particular setting etc. We will then work closely together at the shoot to make sure we've captured your ideal images before finishing the session.

⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️"Fantastic experience. Peter took a lot of time to get the right shots and was very professional. He has produced very high-quality work that has exceeded my expectations and I am incredibly impressed with my pictures. Would not hesitate to recommend him."

Melanie dobbins, Oxfordshire.

Simply put, if you are not delighted with the results from your shoot I will refund, in full, any shoot booking fee you have paid.

You can book with the confidence that you'll love your photographs or you'll get your money back.

Yes. All our wall art is handcrafted in the UK to the highest standard and carries a lifetime guarantee for workmanship and colour retention.

We offer a range of exquisite hand-crafted, British made, wall art from traditional hand varnished fine art, to ultra-modern crystal gloss finishes. We also offer beautiful mounted fine art photographs and a variety of framing options.

I bring a selection of samples along to our design consultation where you can see and appreciate the superb quality.

Wall Art starts at £399 and matted print bundles start at £249.

Yes, we offer exceptional value framed wall art packages and collections.

Yes, we can supply digital files in bundles. These are high resolution and fully retouched to the same high standard as the files we use for large sized wall art.

Because I work on location every shoot is different.

You should be able to see and select your photographs on the same day shortly after your shoot.

This is best done in your own home because we can position wall art samples and styles in different rooms and decide where you would like to locate them.

We always do a weather check the evening before a shoot and if constant rain is forecast we contact you to reschedule your shoot.

If we meet for the session and the weather prevents us from completing the shoot I will arrange another date with you at no further cost.

Prior to the shoot, please give some thought about any characteristics that really capture their personality. Our aim is to provide you with special memories for years to come.

We all want your dog to look at their best so remove any sleep from their eyes and brush and groom as you would normally.

Exercise your dog at the shoot location prior to the session so they can burn some energy and familiarise themselves with the environment.

If your dog is anxious don’t worry, you can stand close by to reassure them. I bring along slip leads for this purpose, and these can be edited out in post-production.

If they do not socialise well with other dogs, please let me know so we can choose a quiet area.

Bring some treats, their favourite toys and some water too!

Don't worry, it only takes a fraction of a second for a great photograph!

For a portrait you can keep your dog close to you on a slip lead (we can provide these) which can be edited out of the photograph later.

We also use fast shutter speeds to capture split-second moments of action shots for you to choose from.

Our photo sessions are fully guaranteed, so you are assured of a great result, or your money back.

We take all the time necessary to help you choose your photographs during a guided design consultation. We select your favourite pictures and discuss the various finish options based on your chosen images and the location for your bespoke wall art.

This is a fully guided process and I am with you to help you make the right choices. We start with a slideshow overview to give you a feel for what we have captured, then we filter by choosing those special pictures which impact you emotionally.

Remember, your wall art is with you forever so the right selection deserves a little time.

When you have placed your order I spend time enhancing your images to really make them pop.

I will then send you a digital proof for you to approve prior to print. Once approved the images are sent to our lab to be hand crafted for you. You can expect to receive them within six weeks, although it will often be sooner.

I will notify you of any updates and when your wall art is ready I will arrange to deliver your order in person, whenever possible, or directly to you via courier.

Yes, I carry full public liability insurance.

It depends on your location and what size and how many pieces of wall art you'd like.

Some clients choose to invest on a large, single piece of wall art while others prefer to spend their budget on a few smaller pieces or matted print bundles.

Most clients invest around £500 to £1000 in total.

Yes, we often include owners and family members in the shoot.

A single screen sized image is included in the shoot price. Any other images can be purchased separately or in bundles as wall art or matted prints. Fully retouched digital files are also available in different size bundles.

The shoot can take place at a yard, stables, field, woods, park etc. depending on the type of shoot we are doing. I have some favourite locations we can use or I can help advise on locations near to you.

The important thing is that we photograph at a safe location where your animal can feel relaxed.

Yes, although I specialise in canine and equine photography I have also photographed many families and children.

This takes place in natural outdoor locations usually in the countryside.

Wear something you feel comfortable and relaxed in. It is best to avoid overly strong busy patterns which may distract from the relationship between you and your animals or family.

You are welcome to bring along a change of clothes if you wish as you will be given plenty of time to change as often as you like.

Yes, I consult with you beforehand to understand your brief and the outcomes you'd like to achieve.

This can include action shots with favourite toys, balls etc. Horse galloping, riding disciplines, favourite tricks, or just special moments-I recently photographed a horse eating his birthday cake his owner had baked for him!

Yes, I often photograph horses, dogs, cats and people during the same shoot. This is included in any booking fee paid.

I have also photographed rare breeds of cattle, sheep, geese and farmyard animals.

Yes, I have photographed many animals that have sadly passed since the shoot and I know how grateful the owners are that they had the foresight to arrange a photo shoot beforehand.

I have helped an owner carry and gently coax two elderly labradors outside into their garden to be photographed with the younger dogs of their pack, within a week one of them passed away followed by his sibling shortly after.

I can also photograph indoors in the comfort of their own home if it's difficult or painful for them to move.

"Hi Peter

Just a brief note to say that the pictures of the dogs arrived this morning.  They are fantastic and I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to take the photographs, especially the four dogs.  Each day is a bonus with Pip and to have him sit up with the other three is just lovely."

Erica Bomphrey, Guildford.
